I asked this question on the parents forum (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1172830-when-looking-resume-do-you-care-if-its-one-page.html), hoping some hiring specialists will chime in. This is what I've received:
[list]
[] Yes, it should be one page (especially for a recent grad)
[] No, it can exceed only if it isn't puffed up and just lists succinct descriptions
[] Size 12 font should be changed to size 10
[] It really does depend on your field, i.e. accounting resum

My opinion is that it should exceed if it has to and shouldn’t if it states not to. I’ve never had to give a hard copy to my hiring person, so they’re obviously looking at pdf’s or something, and I’ve gotten every internship I’ve applied for (of course, some employers prefer to print theirs off. mine didn’t). I have a tons of federal experience that relates to my major, so I’m not going to leave that experience off.
