How long should the parent essays be?

Should they be a full essay with five paragraphs, or two paragraphs summarizing the question and my daughter?

How should a parent statement look

Thanks in advance for any advice.

There is no specific form - just answer each question as best you can.

This is an interesting question. If you complete the parent statement on line, most schools give you only so many characters. I think it’s only human nature to feel like you have to use up all the alotted characters, but it’s not necessarily the best tactic. I think when AOs are reading hundreds or thousands of applications, they appreciate economy of speech.

On the other hand, one school in particular, Exeter, appears to be very longwinded in regard to written materials sent to applicants, i.e. Funabashi letter and some others as well. I couldn’t help but feel, one good turn deserves another, and remember wanting to send same heartfelt and passionate longwinded diatribe, but resisted the inclination.

Brevity, I believe is always best.
