Hi, I am a long time lurker, but first time poster, so please forgive me if I put this in the wrong category or something.

I am applying for admission for the Undergrad Class of 2018.

So, how many alumni interviews are normal for one to receive. Do most people get one from every school they apply to that offers them?

Schools I have applied to that offer them are:

Yale
Columbia
Dartmouth
Duke
UPenn
Cornell
Brown

I have been contacted for interviews at this point in time by all but UPenn and Duke. For Duke I applied Regular Decision, but early enough for priority interview consideration.

It varies on location (due to the amount of alumni in your area), so it’s completely normal to receive interview offers from all of those on your list. The invitation doesn’t make a statement on your chances of admission.

We are a US family living and working at the NSTO headquarters in Belgium. Daughter has Auburn on her top 3 list. There is an Auburn alumni here who is a Lt Col and is highly regarded for many reasons other than being a LtCol. She has encouraged our daughter in her Auburn research and has offered to do an Alumni interview. Does Auburn do alumni interviews? Of not, would it be odd to ask for one?

I don;t know if Auburn does alumni interviews and their website gives no clues. There’s no harm in asking for an interview. Typically the interviewer is assigned by the college, so it’s possible that they might assign someone else if there’s another Auburn grad in your area.

She might just skip the interview route and ask the Lt Col to write a supplemental recommendation.
