How many AP's you take?

10 (1, 2, 3, 4 by year)

I would have liked to take more, but my school only offers the one's I will have taken, plus a couple other languages and art. I also will have taken about 27 units (8 classes) of college math online, through EPGY.

sophomore year:
AP Spanish Language - 5

junior year:
AP Spanish Literature - 4
AP European History - 5
AP English Lang & Comp - 5

senior year:
AP Statistics
AP French Langauge
AP French Literature
AP Physics C
AP English Lit & Comp
(AP) Multivariable Calculus (not really an AP, but gets the credit at my school, since you have to have already taken regular calc, which I did over the summer. I will likely take one of the AP Calc tests at the end of the year)

7 by the time I graduate (plus 4 semesters of college courses taken at a local community college). I wish I could take more honors/AP classes, but schedules are a nightmare. I had Yearbook (a class I would never drop, due to dedication/time/responsibility), Honors French 4, and AP Bio all conflict with eachother this year. So, I had to drop both french and bio for yearbook. Tough luck pour moi.

How do you take more than 6 in one year, for those of you who have?
Do you have more than 6 classes or a do you take a different class each semester...?

Our school has 7 classes per semester. And we can only have one free period. I'm taking 3 this year, but 7 next year.

1- English Literature AP
2- Chemistry AP
3- Environmental Science AP
4- Calculus BC AP
5- Spanish 4 AP
6- Psychology AP
7- Economics AP

I'll probably end up taking 4 or 5 of those, instead of all 7. I'm not sure 7's a good number of AP's for one's health and livelihood, LOL.

5 this semester
6 next

I'm taking a grand total of 2, yes two, and I really don't care. I like not being bogged down by work. When I'm an old lady, I won't remember how many APUSH packets I did, I'll remember the goofy nights my friends and I spent together. But for those who have the brains, patience and time management to take a lot of AP's, more power to you.

This year:
1) AP Spanish Lang.
2) AP English Lit.
3) AP Physics C
4) AP Calc BC
5) AP US History

Last Year:
1) AP Government & Economics
2) AP US Gov't
3) AP Calc AB
4) AP Physics B

Cash'd...

A FREE period? Is that what it sounds like?

Free period, as in no work. You can rest up in the library or do work there. A lot of schools in my area have that, but at our school it's kind of necessary, b/c we have over 3 months of summer vacation. Basically, this means even if you take no APs and just regular courses, you end up with 7 hours of homework per day since we have less school days. So...a free period is crucial to living and getting work done, lol.

I'm kind of naaive, so don't blame me if "free period" is supposed to mean something bad in slang. :)

Well since my school does not allow freshmen or sophomores to take AP's i have to load them up junior year and even more senior year,,, which really sucks!!

so junior year ill have 3 and senoir year 6= hopefully 9 by graduation

10th grade-- world history, calc ab
11th grade--spanish lang., english lang, chemistry, us history
12th grade--calc bc, euro history, US gov, english lit, micro econ, macro econ
self study--physics B, statistics, comparative gov., human geography maybe physics C

16/17 total--still not enough for State Scholar in California.

how many APs did the state scholar in california take last year?

19 or 20--that means i need to self-study for a few more...

I guess 11 AP's in a year is possible, but it's not all that wise. One of a few things will happen:

a) You will realize that your goal is unrealistic and give up.
b) You will realize that your goal will not heavily impact your stats and realize that you would rather just have fun senior year.
c) You will do a bad job because you are either not capable or don't put in enough effort, barely passing or not passing the exams at all.
d) You will succeed, but at the expense of any social life you may have had, because I think you'd literally have to be studying about 15 hours a day.

Personally, I think it would be a waste of a perfectly good senior year.

6 this year, 12 overall.

Ok, I'll qualify it for you. 6 of the APs are for classes I'm taking. I'm taking regular physics and doing a little bit extra self-study for the AP test. Stats will be easy because I own math. I took a practice comparative gov't test without any study and got a 4 (of course this is based on accurate/inaccurate essay grading by my Gov teacher). The MC for that exam is a joke, I got 42 out of 60 right without any knowledge of comp. gov't. I took geography as a freshman and so I just have to brush up a bit for the AP test. I'm not going to have to study at all for the 6 AP classes I'm taking, because my teachers are awesome.

Sophomore Year - AP Euro
Junior Year - AP US, AP Bio, AP Studio: Drawing
Senior Year - AP Virgl, AP Chem, AP Lit, AP US Gov, AP Comp Gov, AP Calc

So ten in all when I'm done.

Well, I mean, do whatever you want. It just seems to be like a waste of a perfectly good senior year to me, since it seems like you're doing this more for the award than for any actual love for academics/knowledge.

y'all got mad ap's. the only ap's and ib's i gon have are ap english 3 and 4, ap american history, ap economics, ap biology, ib psychology 1 and 2, ib contemporary history and thats it basically.
but we got ap spanish, ap calculus, ap physics, ap chemistry and quite a few otha ibs and aps but i finna dual enroll, so i dont have to pass a freakin test to get the college credit. it sux to take ap sometimes, b/c your struggling and based on one test on one random day, if u dont pass, u dont get da college credit and alla dat extra work wuz fah nothin. ion lyk dat on da real tho
