How many college credits will you have before you graduate?

When I graduate I will have had:
Math 1A (first semester calculus) 5 units
English 5 (Advanced Comp) 3 Units
AP Government
AP Economics
AP Physics
AP Statistics
Ap Biology
AP English Language

So...Im wondering if I would have enough to skip a year of college?
Does anyone know how many units AP classes are worth? I mean, they are 5 hours of class a week, for two semesters so it should be at least 5 units...but somehow I doubt it....does anyone know?

You’ll likely get credit the following credit:

1 year of college is ~30 hours for non-math/science and ~32 for math/science.

You could almost “skip” a year of college if you’re non-math/science, but you’ll be missing pre-major courses in math/science/engineering that could keep you from doing so.

I realized I’d have way too many classes to get credit for many of them… but ~80 hours.

I have 11 college credits. Some APs, some A-levels … so, we’ll see.

It depends entirely on the college. I had 73.8 entering UCLA, but that didn’t really help me any more than ~40 would have.

Graduating from college is more than just getting X units.

well I plan on majoring in Human Biology, so I could probably skip a quarter or two max. Im just trying to save some tuition money. maybe Ill take some classes over the summer to push me for sure into sophomore year.

Wow, that’s a great point. Maybe OP shouldn’t get ahead of himself.

lol, wow its really cool to congratulate yourself on saying something

What’s that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the point I’m making!

lol… :D

I’ll have appx 25 though I probably won’t use many of them, just took them for fun or HS credit:

Into Sociology
Into Business
Business Law I
Chemistry I
Biology I and II
Astronomy I

I’ll probably only use the sociology and Bio I.

Most CCers are looking at schools that rarely grant transfer credit and which grant AP credit in such a way it amounts to little more than placement. As I understand it, almost everyone at top schools graduates in 4 years…so what credit you have is really not that important.

To the OP, in a lot of cases your English and Econ won’t get you anything other than free electives, and Stats won’t even get you that if you have to take a calc-based stats class.

AP Euro
AP Chemistry
AP English Language
AP US History
AP Physics B
AP Physics C: Mechanics
AP Physics C: E+M
AP Calculus BC
AP Environmental Science
AP Biology
AP Statistics
AP Government and Politics
AP English Literature
Multivariate Calculus
Linear Algebra
Differential Equations
3rd Semester Calculus-based Physics
Speech
Mandarin 1
Jazz in American history
Computer Science

Thus allowing me to get either an AA degree in Mathematics or AS in general science before I graduate this year from high school.

^I decided not to go for an Associates. We have the same terms by earning this special diploma that we would get with an associates, and since it’s not really a degree I don’t feel like I’m omitting anything in my resume or whatever if I don’t list.

lol.
100+ if you count ap credits too.

Idk, whatever AP credits I’ve received. Never had time for concurrent enrollment at a college, unfortunately. I can barely juggle being alive, much less going to school in 2 places.

I had 32 credits to start. All transfered. I could have had more. But they didn’t transfer to my major, were unnecessary, and would have forced me to graduate pretty early or lose financial aid. It’s not just about “zomg I gotta get all these credits!!!” It’s about getting the right credits. There are some intro courses that you want to skip out of, but there are others that you really do need to take at universities. Most credits transfer as 1st year courses, which won’t help you since you need x amount of credits at the 300 and 400 level, but might have too many credits to qualify for fin aid and/or merit aid.

Even with only 32 credits to start- I could still graduate in 2.5 years. Am I going to? Hell no. What kind of idiot would want to graduate into this economy right now if they weren’t forced to?

Luckily the college I take classes from is literally next door to my high school
