I applied to fourteen schools:
2 in-state publics (both safeties, but one of which I really like)
1 OOS public (safety-ish)
11 privates (including 3 Ivies)
13 schools: 1 safety state school, 2 publics, and 10 privates.
I figured go big or go home. So all but the safety and publics were Ivy league or right under that caliber. D:
Wish us luck!
Applied to 6 schools:
1 in-state public (accepted, safety, offered a great scholarship, could see myself attending)
1 in-state private LAC (match)
4 out-of-state private research schools (reaches)
I was accepted into my state flagship and received an excellent scholarship so I didn’t bother applying to any other safeties. All of the privates I applied to (if I miraculously get in) would probably offer me enough aid to attend. We shall see. Either way, doing five applications was extremely time-consuming and I have no idea how people apply to so many unless they are CA and have no supplements (or a lot of overlap)!
Correction to my last post, I meant to say the private universities will most likely NOT offer me enough aid to be able to attend.
Eighteen. Wow, quite a lot… The acceptance rate is competitive…
I was originally planning to apply to 12-14 schools, but eventually cut the list down to seven.
1 in-state public (safety)
3 Ivies
3 other private schools (1 match)
Sixteen
11 Public (5 match,3 reach, 3safety)
3 Private (dream school ,1 reach and 1 match)
2 LAC (reach)
Go big or go home:
6 ivies
3 other top privates
1 mediocre private
1 in state safety
Hopefully I’ll get into one of my top schools, but I’d be fine going to my in state public, so whatever happens, happens.
So Far, I have applied to 10:
1 Ivy
6 Private, out-of-state
3 Public, out-of-state
0 Public, in-state
In total I will have applied to 15:
4- Reach schools (Ivy/top schools)
2- Public (1 in state, 1 out)
9- Private (going for big scholarships at many)
11 I think, unless I’m missing some…if that’s the case, I probably shouldn’t even go to college…
1 Ivy
3 Top Tier
4 LAC
1 Public Ivy (in state)
1 Okay private (oos)
1 way way backup private (oos)
Already accepted by:
Public Ivy (in state)
Okay private (17k scholarship)
Backup private (14k scholarship)
1 LAC (potential scholarship; recruited for athletics D3, so no money, but hopefully easier to get merit)
I’m applying to 8 schools:
2 Ivy Leagues (out of state private)
2 Top Tiers (out of state private)
2 Second Tiers (out of state private)
2 Safties (out of state public)
I was planning on applying to 8 schools. (3 private, 1 OOS public, 4 Public in state). However I only applied to 3 because I was accepted to my top choice ED.
Accepted: one of my “reach,” public in state schools (Public Ivy)
My other “low reach,” public state school (Public Ivy) I withdrew my application but in the email I received it seemed apparent I had been accepted
1 Top Tier LAC: application withdrawn
Sorry - I typed up a more detailed post but lost my post after hitting send
Applied to 1 ED and 4 EA and the 4 RD.
Appled to 5 reaches, 2 matches, 2 safeties (though might apply to 2 more safeties)
I applied to 2. I applied to Penn ED (and miraculously got in) and USC. I was waiting till I got my Penn decision to apply elsewhere, and if I hadn’t gotten in I would’ve had to apply to like 10 more schools.
That is very lucky of you! Why did you apply to USC if you hadn’t heard back from penn yet?
I applied to 17…
5 Ivies
10 match-reach privates
1 In-state flagship
1 out-of-state safety
Already accepted to one OOS private and a OOS public, also the safety. A friend at my school applied to 20 schools, including all the Ivies.
Swimmer–Thank you!! And I applied to USC because their deadline to be considered for scholarships was Dec 1 and the Penn decision didn’t come out till Dec 16.
I applied to 12: 5 EA, 7 RD. I got accepted into 3 so far
3 and all of them in my state:
University of Georgia Early Action (Accepted)
Georgia Tech Early Action (Accepted)
Emory University Regular Decision (Waiting)
I think Emory is going to be too expensive for me even if I do get accepted but the problem now is that I can’t decide on UGA or Tech…
