How many Extra Curricular Activities do you need to get into UC Berkeley

Well- what do you like about CS? Find activities that grow out of the same idea- if you’re into the innovation and the empowerment, hackathons! Just find something you can get passionate about.

Admissions readers are typically more impressed by higher levels of achievement/leadership/etc. in ECs than the number of ECs.

Quality over quantity. Although quality AND quantity is better.

@dividerofzero Well. What do I love? Everything! There isn’t one aspect of computers I don’t like. I like the feeling when you program something and you test in out and it works just the way it was in your head. I like the feeling of having your own laboratory and just typing code in a file will create lets say a calculator. Or something as simple as a prompt. Hardware, software, whatever, it doesn’t matter. @ucbalumnus Since my school doesn’t exactly promote it’s ECs as big. They don’t hold competitions other than the art part. Which, for me, is piano. I enjoy yearbook and all that. But math is probably the class that I hold the most passion for. While it isn’t an elective, the afterschool club is. And anyone can do the tutoring but, teaching is the big aspect of it. I don’t tutor like 2 people. I tutor about 20. I mean, it isn’t like Algebra 2 and Geometry and above. It is just 6-9th. I also placed 1st in Math 3 years in a row. Not sure if that matters though. So I mean, I do like 4 or 5 ECs but only about 3 do I actually like and have a true passion for. @mrnephew I understand that. I am looking to do more ECs but as I go to a private school with a smaller high school (Roughly 200 people), the only ECs available are Music, Math, Yearbook, Sports, AV for Plays (We only have about 3 every year) and Choir(Not band, not an elective, but not exactly an EC either. I guess I would consider it one because of competitions and stuff). So, the options aren’t exactly wide spread. We have a lot of electives though. Psych, Worldview, Shop(Yes… You got that right. An elective), and a ton more. I just wish we were able to do more. I plan to do all of the ECs I do now all throughout high school. If that helps any.
