How many freshman took the AP Calc BC exam across the US?

Biology is always all about memorization :)

My kid took honors ap calc in 9th grade. it was a rigorous course with mostly seniors. He got a 5 on the test. He will take math at a local college next year. Math comes very easily to him so he did not want to waste his time in math classes that were review. He didn’t do it to collect AP scores or race against others. He masters math easily and found ways to move along and enjoyed the classes rather than being bored by grade level math. he also does math competitions-AMC- and various other math related things and lots of science too. He likes math and he has an inherent aptitude for it.No, it is not memorization. He can apply what he knows to all kinds of new problems-abstract and real life. he has a level of understanding about math that can’t be simply taught-his ability is inherent. He sees the world in orderly physics terms–naturally and always has. Lest you think he is some bench science nerd-nope–he is skilled socially, athletic and musical. so, stereotypes don’t fit here and while he did get a 5 on the AP test the score was not a result of simply memorizing.
