hahaha amen. i took the math diagnostics exam today and it was pretty fun. used my brain a little and took a simple math test.

For the past week and first two weeks in June, I've been refreshing my high school chemistry that I never really learned. I heard from last year's high school alumni that 14A here was a killer. I'm also gonna start reviewing Bio and Calc soon...summer idleness is agonizing. I dunno... I get really depressed when I have nothing to do-I have no purpose. I'm already fearing retirement, because of my experience this summer.

chem 14A isn't THAT bad.

If only you knew what a joke our chemistry was. The college prep kids knew more chem that the AP kids. It would be wise for me to build a small basis for understanding. besides, as i mentioned before, i need something to do.

Yeah, I feel like I'm not academically prepared for some of my classes.

"7) don't let yourself get intimidated by others who seem self-assured and act like ucla is going to be a breeze. I remember a chem class my very first quarter in which a few people who knew each other and were sitting near me were looking over the syllabus and loudly remarking how their chem class in HS had covered all the material, how this class was one for sure they'd ace, and so on. My HS was not that strong academically, and I just knew I was screwed. Although discouraged I tried my best and got an A on the first midterm and in the class. [Most of] guys sitting near me... dropped, and the rest got B's and C's."

But that's reassuring :)

Were you reading the thread I posted? (Mikemac... Success)

Yep

sklmsldfasd

thanks for the inspiration :P

gah, back to studying now..can't live with it, can't live without it.

Absolutely absurd. But then it's very plausible considering that we are talking about UCLA here...

haha negatory - you overachieving first-years are going to have to learn the ways of procrastination. I don't even know what my fall quarter classes are about, so I sure as hell haven't started studying for them. Thats just insane - study the day before the midterm like the rest of us. Trust me, it makes life better :)

I'm gonna start studying for Math 31B at the beginning of september.

I got a C in 31A last fall so I'll need the extra studying :p

Heeeyy, I learned the ways of procrastination. I'm just saying that pre-studying isn't strange to some of the *others/i here.

Nothing wrong with a healthy dose of overachievement.

That said, I always procrastinate. :D

I'm an overacheiver. But I also procrastinate, a lot.

Just because I don't follow through mega early doesn't mean that I don't have the mindset. Actually my procrastination is usually a result of oh-god-I'm-going-to-suck-too-much-it's-too-hard-OH-NOES-I'M-GUNNA-FAIL. And so I mentally freak out and put the stuff off so I don't have to think about what will happen if I suck. But I always, always end up getting my s hit done and done really damn well. So whatever.
