how many people were on the waiting list of 2008 ?

<p>I have been put onto the waiting list by UPENN, does anyone know about how many people
were on the waiting list 2008 and how many were accepted ?</p>

<p>roughly 1000 were on it, and 180 were taken off (this is of course including all colleges – i dont think they release the stats per college)</p>

<p>You never know if there’s hope. Each year’s different, this one totally unperdictable. And Penn refused to release the numbers for 2009 so…who knows.</p>

<p>^I think that number includes grad school, which have even larger amounts of people on waitlists than undergrad does (1500 or so, looking at grad forums)</p>

<p>Same as other poster…I got into Penn, but will be declining. I’ll either be going to UPitt (full tuition), Columbia, or Barnard.</p>

<p>The guy who answered the phone today said 180 were offered a place from around 400 people who accepted the waitlist last year. I hope I understood him right. Could someone else call the admission office and confirm that?</p>

<p>Whoops, should’ve asked. I just called and asked if they knew how many are on this year and when people would be notified… they didn’t know either.</p>

<p>I’m going to Oxford instead. I thought that my application had been withdrawn about a month ago, but apparently, it hadn’t.</p>
