WHOA! themagster, that is a bunch of money for undergraduate. i hope you are in a well payed major!

none of the ivies give merit aid... all need based

100K...

whoo whoo,,,, cheap nyu :D

I'm going to come out of undergrad (Kenyon) debt free. I'm so thankful to my parents...

However, graduate school loans will KILL me.

Thankfully, $0.

$0, my parents are footing the bills for undergrad, but for grad I will have to take loans.

5k to 20k, depending on how much I work during the year and whether I get one of the scholarships I applied for (which will significantly reduce costs). I'm paying my college tuition myself. Probably I'll do the same thing to pay off grad school loans.

About 75K after 4 years of college. Then it's medical school/ grad school. Probably med school.

I'm going to take 80 - 100k debt for undergrad (political science). Do you guys think I am crazy? Will I be poor for the rest of my life paying off this huge loan? Should I choose another major with a better possibility to earn more $$$?

Can students even take out that much in loans? Is it really your parents who are taking the loans? It might be tough to make monthly payments of nearly $1000 (unless your parents are wealthy! ;) )

I'm sort of risk averse, but I'd go to a more affordable school, especially if you are intending to go to law school afterwards.

hmmm, my parents are dropping almost 200k to pay for my college education...

wow, i have to pay for everything. Probably 80,000 + in loans

I agree, it depends on what you're planning to do after school with your poli sci degree. If you've got a career field in mind that pays well then you might be fine, but I wouldn't advise 100k in loans to someone planning to be an artist or an actor or the like after school. For example, I'm graduating with an English major and debt. If my plans were to rent an apt and just start working on my first novel, then I wouldn't be comfortable taking out huge loans, but I'm planning to go into publishing (which isn't known for huge paychecks either, but it's better), so I'm a little more comfortable with loans.

my dad refused to get into loans. luckily, i received a great fin. aid package from my school, so we're good. =D

I will be shelling out totally $120,000 for 4 years........Undergraduate program - ChemE

Thanks to spending a good hour a day Senior year on scholarships, I will owe about $76 after scholarships, a state grant, and money I've personally saved and invested. This includes Laptop and an alloted $300 a semester spending money.

$0 at University of Notre Dame (~$45,000 per year). I've saved $32,000 already myself (by the end of the summer, it should be slightly more than $35,000), I'll continue to work during the summers during college and apply that money to my college expenses, and my parents are paying the rest.

$0... at the local state school. ($5k in Tuition a year, room+board will cost double that) My parents will pay for everything, which is really nice.

about 30k after undergrad

This year: $0 at RPI (including laptop, room, board, books, tuition, etc)

I'm paying for my education. I got decent FA, $5000 in renewable scholarships, $4500 in one-time scholarships, $5000 wages over the summer. Since I'm guarenteed a job each summer (with a pay of $2500+ a month), I think I can graduate debt free :)
