How much better is a 35/36 than a 34

I currently have a 31 ( that result was after not studying at all ) but am taking the ACT this February and have decided that If i get 33 or lower, I'll most likely take the test one last time. If i get a 35 or 36 I won't take it again, but If I get a 34. I'm not sure. I'll be applying to all the top colleges next year.
Of 25 or so colleges I'm considering applying to right now ( I'll narrow it down to 10 when i actually apply ) only Princeton, Columbia, Caltech, Harvey Mudd and MIT have 75th percentile ACT scores of 35. The rest are 34 and lower.

If I really want to have a good shot at these schools, Is it worth it to take the test again on the chance that I get a 35 or higher?

Sidequestion: I've been studying and I've taken two practice test sections from the red book. I got a 35 on the math section and a 33 on the english section. Is this a good indication that I'll do well in both of those sections on the actual test?

That’s kind of a silly idea. Schools (even the most elite) don’t distinguish between 33s, 34s, 35s or 36s.

I don’t think you get a huge advantage with a 35/36 as opposed to a 34. The rest of your application is more important. By the way, I got a 32.

Obviously a 36 is better than a 35 is better than a 34. and so on. However, I personally think that once you get a 33 or higher, there’s really no need to worry about test scores.
