How Much Can My ACT Carry Me?

Hello everyone,

Here is a summary of my application:

  • I go to one of the most competetive public schools in MA
  • 3.65 UW GPA
  • 35 ACT
  • Fantastic Recommendations, Essays, and EC’s
  • Upward Trend:
    - Freshman: All B-/B’s
    - Soph: All B/B+'s
    - Junior: All A-/A’s

I am dying to go to Wisconsin, but I am nervous about my decision because of my UW GPA. Even though I have a strong upward trend, I still fall well below the OOS average of 3.85.

Do I still have a good shot of getting in?

I think you definitely do. You will probably get in. You show improvement & your ACT is great!

Did you explain your upward grade trend in the optional section of the application?

Excellent chances- great junior grades, rigor and ACT.

I had a similar GPA with a worse ACT and got in out of state from a similarly competitive high school. It seems very likely you get in.
