Just wondering, but what is “global”?

Tripsounds, I believe you said your school was one of the top 100 (a gold or silver, then?). Just so you know, most rigorous schools understand that a 3.4 from a place like a hotchkiss or a thomas jefferson is more like a 3.8 or even a 4.0 at a regular comprehensive hs. Ask your guidance counselor how your school rates that way.

If your program is well regarded (sounds like), being selected for the alternative program will likely only help your cause, provided your standardized tests and the written reports reflect that you’re a capable student and your internships show accomplishment. The study of music is not unlike that alternative program in that it is different, more individualized, and more qualitatively assessed. So I think you’d be fine.

A few months ago, I was accepted to:

UMiami Frost: Music Business/contemporary voice
NYU Tisch: Recorded Music
USC Thornton: Popular Music

…and some other schools you’re probably less interested in.

UW GPA: 3.5
W GPA: 4.2
SAT: 2000
APs: 4

If your grades are decent enough for consideration and the music department really wants you, they’ll make that acceptance happen.

Imagep- It’s essentially world history, but with little to no emphasis on the United States.

Kmcmom13- I’ll definitely ask my guidance counselor about it, thanks! It’s a very well known high school to major colleges over the east coast, but considering California specifically is a 7 hour flight away, it may be a little more obscure.

27dreams- Congradulations and thank you! Where did you decide on?

USC. =D

I’m also from the east coast, if that makes any difference.
