I moved around the world a bit. I first moved from China to Germany when I was 4, then moved back when I was 6. Then I moved to the US around age 8 and lived there until 11. That was when I learned English. I moved back to China again, relearned Chinese, and started middle school, but moved back to the US before 8th grade started and lived here till now. I still haven’t caught up with my everyday grammar and really messed up on the critical reading section (my SAT score is 2110), but I didn’t really talked about that in my college apps. I did mention my moving experiences in the “Additional Information” section though.
Instead, I wrote a lot about my experiences as a freelance artist. I started digital art in the winter of 2013 and made an art gallery account in 2014. From then till now, I spent a lot of time promoting my art and received lots of clients asking me to do art commissions for them. I also started drawing character designs and sold them for money. Maybe half a year ago I became a paid character concept artist for a 2D RPG game that’s in progress right now.
The thing is, I don’t want to pursue a career in art. I became interested in business though, after all the art promotion and marketing I’ve done to increase my popularity so I can get more clients. I initially started doing art because I desired at least some financial independence from my parents. I just hated asking them for money all the time. Plus, they don’t make that much either.
I just don’t know how much that’ll stand out on my apps because like I said before, my SAT scores are low compared to lots of others and my rank isn’t that high either (12th/650). I never took art until senior year so I don’t have many big art awards either. Most of my extracurricular involves Latin and orchestra (certamen team member, National Junior Classical League, violin for 11 yrs, concertmaster etc) but nothing really focuses on business, which I’m interested in.
Anyways, I just hoped for some comments on the question of “unusual experiences”. This isn’t a chance me thread because I know how unreliable those are lol. And I apologize for my bad grammar.
