I am a varsity recruited athlete and I have left my fate to the ED game. How much does it help to be a recruited athlete in the decision?

Depends on what division it's for and how strong your application is in relation to the other swimmers they're looking at. It could help a little, it could help a lot. But it definitely helps.

EDIT
Whoops...it's division 3, duh. Silly me.
Still, it'll be a boost.

"I have a weighted gpa that is over 5.0, I got a 2360 on my SAT and 790 on three SAT II's. I've now taken a total of 14 AP's. I think in all the years of schooling I've done, I've spent about 5 hours studying tops."

As a URM with stats like you've listed you'd be accepted ED regardless of your "recruited athlete" status. I don't think you have much to worry about, unless you confessed to murder in your essays...

But you better be prepared to spend some time studying...

dude, were you at discovery weekend?

No I wasn't I had a big swim meet the weekend of Discovery weekend.

Honestly, I think this anziety I'm feeling is due to the fact that I really want to go to Swarthmore and It's been a rollercoaster since I submitted my app ED. So I am staying away from this forum and all things college because If I don't I'm gonna go insane. so thanks for everyone's feedback. I hope things go accordingly come Dec 15th.

oh puhleeze. no need to be a drama queen. if you don't get in, you won't go insane and the sun will still rise on dec 15. if you don't get in, you can still go to williams or haverford (it's a step down, i know, but you'll get over it)

As I understand it, coaches list their recruited athletes in order of preference. The admission department generally tries to spread the slots out fairly evenly—if you are at the top of the coaches' list, it will probably help a bit.

Still, there are very few students who get in solely based on athletic ability (...by which I mean there would be no chance they'd otherwise get into Swat—they are still strong students).
