How much does everyone think a "brand name" college affects the chances of a good job with high income later? I understand the distinction between a community college and Harvard, but are your chances of getting a job going to be noticeably hindered by the college you go to? Would you rather be one of many at a rigorous college, or an exceptional standout who connects well with professors at a slightly lesser known one?

It depends on the job. What kind of job?

One of many at a rigorous college? Give me an example. I know you can be one or many at a college and I know you can be at a rigorous college. I suppose you can be one of many at a rigorous college but I can’t think of an example.

I can imagine the part of an exceptional standout at a lesser known college. Remember, you will have to be a really exceptional student for this because there are smart people at any college. I really don’t understand the second part about connecting well with professors at a slightly lesser known college because you can connect well with professor at a rigorous college.

Good students do well wherever they end up. The difference in college will be the opportunities you get, versus the ones you have to make yourself.
