How much does Grinnell care about the writing section?

I have a 750 writing, and a 710 reading and a 650 math. I'm in distress because someone told me colleges don't care about the writing section.

I can't imagine any admissions person looking at a score as good as your writing score and not giving you some credit for it.

Interestingly, writing scores do not show up on Grinnell's Common Data Set, which lends some credence to the idea that it is not as important as the other scores. Here is the address:
<a href="http://www.grinnell.edu/Offices/institutionalresearch/reports/GC_CDS_0809.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.grinnell.edu/Offices/institutionalresearch/reports/GC_CDS_0809.pdf</a></p>

That being said, I agree with bethievt, AND your other scores are well within Grinnell's
25-75% range. So I hope you used (or will use) all that writing talent to craft a really terrific Grinnell application! Best of luck!

I am sure Grinnell considers writing as a small LAC...at least I hope so b/c I have almost the exact same scores as terry: 750W, 720R, 640M.

The Writing section is my best (by far!), too. So frustrating when colleges ignore it.

naw an admissions officer told me they are looking at the writing score starting this year! well, it's kinda given away tho by the fact that if u go on ure pioneerweb account and check ure test scores they have all three sections there and no SAT IIs.
yeah and unfortunately they do not at all look at SAT IIs bc they state in the common data set that they don't look at them so they're obligated not to.

Yeah i scored 800 writing..lol i hope they do consider it!! =)

They do not require ACT writing so I doubt they give SAT writing a ton of weight.

My guidance counselor told me that this year (2009) was the first year MOST colleges even considered the writing section, so that may be why they don't have info on the writing section yet.
