I went to an info session with princeton in which the student rep basically said that practically everyone from princeton was a NMSF (i know this is an exaggeration based on the actual number of semi's that went to princeton from NMSF's site). But i just want to know if this status will help you AT ALL in getting into HYP or the other ivies (namely MIT)? I personally don't think it will help, but can't hurt.

It's a huge help at colleges that are on the make --> trying to rise in the rankings. They love to brag about all the NMSFs they have. It can also get you automatic money at some good schools -- an automatic 50% tuition grant at USC for example. At lesser schools, such as the Univ. of Houston, it can get you an automatic full ride.

But for colleges that are already at the top of the rankings it's nice but nothing too special. They have plenty already. But as you said, it sure can't hurt. If nothing else it gives you something fill in the section where ask NATIONAL achievements and honors.
