I'm in the class of 2017 so I already know pretty much everything you can research about Pomona. However, I'm interested to learn some more specifics about how Pomona students interact with the other colleges.

I know, obviously, that all the campuses are across the street from one another and that, as is often stated, you can make your involvement with the other colleges as big or as small as you want it to be. But I am wondering how the geography of the consortium impacts the social scene.

I also had CMC in my top 5 and the only place it beat out Pomona in terms of what I specifically was looking for was that it seems to have a more active social scene. So I'm wondering to what degree Pomona students are able to get involved in that scene and also with the other colleges. I have a friend at CMC who says he doesn't really have any Pomona friends and that it seems to be the most isolated of the colleges. Does this seem to be true?

I would assume that Pomona would have the most interaction with Pitzer, through the joint sports teams, and then maybe CMC, since it sits between Pomona and the other three (correct me if I'm wrong on that). Do Pomona kids still interact a lot with Scripps or HMC students? Overall, I'm just wondering how easy it is to interact with students from each of the other schools, since I have friends who are going to some of the others next year. Thanks!

My D goes to Pomona. There is a lot of interaction - probably as much as you want. A lot of the extra curricular activities are Consortium based rather than just the individual school - for example zombies vs. humans, dance and theater departments, ballroom dance team, etc. There are also students from all the schools in many classes. My D has friends at Scripps and Harvey Mudd so far and less so at CMC. There really aren’t a lot of streets separating the campuses - they are continuous. The library and student centers are also shared and centrally located. It’s a big plus from my D’s perspective. It’s true she knows a lot more from Pomona - lives in that dorm etc., but I think most of the people she works with on technical theater are from HM… anyway… you should visit if you’re interested.

I go to Harvey Mudd, and there are even a fair amount of Pomona kids in my Mudd classes. I see Pomona kids all the time at our dining hall and others, and they must interact in clubs too. There’s even one Pomona student who lives in my dorm at Mudd!

The amount of interaction between the schools is quite extraordinary. It is possible to participate in the best programs at each school. My D is a junior at Pomona and is participating in CMC’s well known and respected Washington Program this semester [Washington Program, Off Campus Study, Claremont McKenna College](http://www.cmc.edu/washington/). There are always a few Pomona students who do this.
