<p>I don’t know that the letter itself carries more weight because the prof is internal, but your S’s research work with that department and his relationship with its faculty offers him an excellent opportunity to make the case that Stanford is a unique fit for his specific goals (and vice versa).</p>
<p>Thanks for your opinion. But my son mentioned in Stanford supplemental form, they ask specifically if the applicants have any supplemental rec letter from prof in their school. I didn’t see the detail, just based on what he told me. If that’s true, I just have the feeling they will count it seriously.</p>
