IMO sat scores =/= achievement in college.

I’m not so sure I agree with high SAT = achievement in college. I think it’s a combination of things. If you haven’t done well in HS, depending on the reason, it could clearly be an indication of how you will do in college. Also, if you have a good GPA and attend a very competitive HS with a rigorous program, I think that’s a much better indication of how you will do in college. It may also depend on your major. If you’re an English major, but you did poorly on the math section of the SAT, but did well on the writing, you will likely fair very well in college, while if you’re a math or science major and did not do well on the SAT, college could be more difficult. The bottom line is I think there are way too many factors to just reach a simple conclusion that high SAT = achievement in college.

For everyone that was accepted, even if you’re considering another school, you may want to pay your deposit b/c it says right on their website that the earlier you pay the better your chance is at getting the housing that you want. It’s funny, my status screen stayed the same for months, but yet changed instantaneously when I paid the deposit - the message congratulating me for being admitted was changed with messages that they received my deposit etc (I assume that’s the same for everyone).

PA2015 - yup Same for me! It was pretty much instant beacause I paid the deposit with a credit card…funny how we didn’t have to wait for that status at all!

What housing and meal plan did you request?

I got the email, but haven’t gone to the link. Do they ask for specific dorm preferences and if so, any recommendations?

I picked the 4th level meal plan. I also selected east halls

I GOT SWITCHED INTO FALL!!! i couldnt wait any longer so i decided to call admissions and they told me that i got switched in yesterday and that mypennstate status should be updated by monday!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Anyone know which are considered the better locations for freshmen dorms (east, north, south, west or Pollock Halls)?

i picked north and west for next year. and im not sure how the meal plans work yet but ill probably pick either the 3rd or 4th. i also picked e-house. im waiting to find a good roommate before i picked the order for housing priority.

Gah, this is my second full day of having the “coming days” status and nothing. Oh well, hopefully my status will change tomorrow/ I at least get something in the mail.

if anyone is interested in a roommate u can personal message me… for fall or summer, i have no preference for dorm, and i am very into sports. I also plan to take college seriously and work hard…

PA2015 … if you search 'freshmen dorms" you will hit lots of threads with info and opinions on dorms. Based on what I read, I chose South and Pollack… but also chose Discover House which is a SLO for DUS freshmen.

I’ve got to run out … be back later with a little more info to pass on.

I’ve been told that South is under renovation now and by August the dining hall will be removed and that space will be converted to more dorm rooms. The Plollack dining area is being renovated/expanded to accomodate students living in both South and Pollack. You can read more about it in the Daily Collegian online…just search for Pollack in archived articles. I’ve also heard…but have not confirmed…that some of the SLOs that are in Pollack will be relocated to South in the fall.

I think I will start a new dorm selection thread :)

After months of “your application is being reviewed” and finally having my audition a couple of weeks ago my status changed today! I got coming days and the picture of the lion is up…what does that mean???

Alright. This is the third day will my “coming days” status and its infuriating! Gah, oh well. At least I have to hear by Monday…

I still have not received the “coming days” status and I applied Dec. 1 (or Nov. 30, I forget)
Is that bad?

Well, Nov 30 guarantees you a decision by Jan 31, Dec 1 doesn’t.

Is there any way you can check which day you submitted your application?

@pts,

I’m in your exact situation! I think I applied on Nov. 30 OR Dec. 1. I cannot remember. I think they need to have your application (transcript, tests) BY Nov. 30.

My transcripts only reached 'em on dec 4!
I still got accepted ;)
