How much money should I save up for college? I plan on going out 3 times a week, food, coffee, and ect.
$200,000 should cover it unless you flunk out.
Are you talking about tuition, books, room and board, etc. or just extra stuff?
I’d say you should save as much as you’re able to save without messing up your grades.
I’m just talking about spending money. I have books, room, and tuition covered. More of like fun money and going out.
I would say $2000-$3000 per semester.
Maybe I just don’t spend as much as everyone else (but I really doubt that) but I don’t spend anywhere close to $3000 for extra stuff each semester! I have a part-time job on campus and I don’t work that many hours. I made around $180 a month last semester and that was plenty to cover my honor fraternity dues ($100 a semester), concerts/events (I went to a few last semester…maybe $60 total), and all my late-night food/coffee needs (which was a lot more money than I’d like to admit).
Save what you can now because it’ll come in handy, but consider getting a job on campus or over the summer/winter breaks to help out with fun stuff and so you can start saving for post-college life.
Really depends on what exactly you’re planning on doing, but I generally need something like $500-$1,000 per semester. I use that to pay for groceries, food, coffee, books, uber rides, etc.
