How much of your college fees are your parents paying for?

they pay for my undergraduate + graduate + living expenses

Don’t complain about $20K in loans. Thats pretty good for most students. Even if you only put in $2000 per year to pay off that loan after you graduate, it won’t take more than 10-15 years.

My parents pay for everything. My dad has been saving since the day I was born so he was prepared and willing to do it.

…you have it good. most people take out way more than 5k/yr in loans. be grateful that you got those scholarships and grants.

Parents 100k
Grandparents 100k
Me 20k

Last year, I took out a loan and got the PELL grant and that’s it. My parents paid in total about 11K.

Next year, however, I’m taking out a slightly smaller loan and the rest is grants (about 14+k). My parents are only going to have to pay about $3,000 the whole year, a complete bargain compared to last year. :D

I just re-calculated my debt and it’s actually around $34K without grandparents help, but $24K with their help. If anyone is wondering.

My parents will pay for all 4 years. Everything for those years then its up to me. I am very lucky!

My parents said they will pay for undergrad, whether it’s 4 or 5 years (I’m doing a double degree- BM Piano & BA History, probably 5 years). My school is around 45k for tuition, room, board, and some random fees, plus May Term class. Scholarship for 20k, which leaves a lot for us to pay, but 20k scholarships is actually really high for my school from what I’ve heard (I think the average person only gets about 15k or so). My parents said helping for grad school depends on how much I have left in my college savings account after undergrad. My dad almost wouldn’t allow me to take loans, even if I’d wanted to go to a school where they couldn’t pay the rest of it after scholarships. I might end up taking loans for grad school.

My parents are paying around 20K this year and they’ll continue to pay for the rest of my undergrad education. They’ve been saving for a college education for me practically since I was born so it’s all good. Regular tuition is around 50K (yikes!), but I got a $19,000 scholarship, some loans, and a grant sprinkled in there, plus work study.

OP, I think you got a good deal with only 20k of debt in a moderately expensive school!

I got scholarships that cover all my official school costs, I have some money saved up from my job for some personal expenses. My mom is just helping pay for the other random college things, dorm stuff and whatnot. I’m very grateful for my scholarships and that my mom is helping some with living expenses!

I’ll be around $45 in loans by the time I graduate… yiiiikes! My school’s cost of attendance is $40k a year, but I have a scholarship & grants and pay around $20k a year. My parents have had to take out parent plus loans that they will pay back, and I’m covering the rest. I’m an accounting major though, so I’m hoping the career prospects will be good by the time I graduate.

20k isn’t really that bad when you compare with other people.

My parents are paying as much as possible. They’re paying for everything while I’m at community college, then paying what they can out of pocket for the last two years. When I graduate, they’ll give me all the money they saved in bonds, stocks, etc to help me pay the loans off.

My bill for the semester is just short of $9000. After scholarships and grants, it comes to be less than $2500. I plan on taking out a $1750 subsidized loan for the semester and having my parents pay about $800 for the semester.

My parents have been paying about $6000 a year for my education, but I was talking to my dad about it yesterday, and he just doesn’t think they can swing that anymore. But he said they could probably pay $800, so I don’t have to take out an unsubsidized loan.

I also was awarded $1750/semester in work-study, so if I can get a job and work through college, then I could end with just that first semester’s loan. But I’ve never had a job before and I’m really very nervous about finding one and getting one.

I was originally trying to avoid any loans whatsoever, and that would cause my parents to pay roughly $5000 a year, but like I said, they don’t think they can do that, so they’ll be paying about $1600… although I’m pretty sure they’ll send me spending money here and there as well. I’m blessed to have a family that wants to help me.

My parents are paying $40k a year.
I’m paying $0.

My family is paying for my entire undergraduate education, including transportation costs (since I commute) and for my textbooks. As for graduate school in the future, I will be covering those costs entirely on my own and I will be responsible for obtaining any student loans or any grants to help support my education. I’m pretty scared. Here’s to drowning in student loan debt!

I’m going to a 50k school.
Got it cut down to 20k… with grants scholarships and loans…
Parents are paying for college.
I’m not rich or anything, but parents wanted to pay for my and my little sister’s college.
I’ll be paying back my loans though…

I’m scared my parents are going to run out of money…

Parents paid for all 8 years (2 degrees) at $60k/year
