How much of your Common Application do counselors see?

My school links naviance to common app, do counselors know my application are submitted if I do not tell them?

My daughter’s counselors asked her to email them with the applications were complete. We were told the GCs have access to their part (LORs, transcript, school report), but not the whole application. They may be able to look if the application is complete but I can’t imagine a school where a GC would have time to do that for all their students.

Well, if you don’t tell them, then they don’t know to send their portion of your application-- your transcript, the description of the courses, and so on.

Each school has a procedure of its own. In my school, as well as my kids’ school, you have to fill out a form that requests that the packet be sent to each school you’ve applied to. You do it AFTER submitting the application.

If you don’t do that, then your packet doesn’t get sent and your application is incomplete.

I would be interested to know as well. I imagine they can @howtoapply .Our school uses Naviance but has a lot of the features disabled for students. They do require you pair Naviance with the common app as that is how they take care of transcripts, LOR etc. In Naviance they know the common app results and timelines but you must physically put in those results on coalition and school specific applications

You can grant access to your guidance counselor it is not automatic.

I don’t have access to Naviance, but as the guidance counselor on the Common App, I can’t tell when a student has submitted an application and when the college downloaded that application. I don’t have access to the contents of the application, though

thanks, I requested the transcript on Aug. 5, so far they are still pending to be sent.

When did school reopen?

Let your guidance counselor know in person as well - make sure your school doesn’t require a paper request as well (yeah, I know, redundant, but some schools are like that).

Should that “can’t” be “can”? If not, then I don’t see the contrast suggested by “though”…?

I’m genuinely curious, @shuttlebus – could you clarify or correct me?
