How much spending money do your parents give you?

Besides tuition, room/board, mealplan (if you have one), how much spending money do your parents give you?

Sparingly but as needed, I suppose, but they definitely expect me to work and pay for most of my extra things (above and beyond tuition, room/board, meal-plan, and some clothes and other stuff on occasion).

not enough

None. I actually have to lend my parents money sometimes. It's weird how that works. But I don't spend much so they usually come to me when they need money.

$ 300 Per month

Here is a list of every thread on this never-ending topic. You have a search field for a reason, and people get tired of posting the same answers to the same questions over and over again.

I'm a parent but I'll answer. The plan is that her work study and her savings from summer job will be will be her spending money. So the answer is $0

Um, none. In case you haven't noticed, we are adults now.

$0 (10char)

+1 to Shadow's response

between $300 and $350 a month, most of which is spent downtown.

I don get money..I have a job.

none, and I have to pay for a good portion of tuition via loans...this is expected

None, and it has always been this way. If I want something, I use my own money, whether I'm 10 or 18.

D earns a stipend of $300 per month, which she uses on groceries and anything she needs. Basically, she gets 0 from me. However, when I pay her a visit, I will usually take her to the grocery store and pick up the tab for her food for the week. Usually $40 or so. Or sometimes., in lieu of the grocery store, I'll give her $20 or $40 before I leave. But nothing other than that. She's a big girl now!

My parents don't give me spending money, I work over the summer and actually save the money and make it last. I also work in the school library about 10 hours a week to make any more money. I'm actually pulling a profit because I sparingly spend money. I go to W&M so there isn't too much to waste your money on anyways. You can only spend so much at Wawa.

Uhhh...none. They never really did, actually. They can be occasionally persuaded to buy things for me when I'm home, though, so I guess maybe that counts as $25 every 2 months or so. When I lived in the dorms I used my own money to pay for absolutely everything, and when I moved out into an apartment, I used my own money for everything until it ran out, then my parents started putting enough in my bank account to cover rent, utilities, and maybe 2 weeks' worth of groceries. I have a loan now, and I took out just enough to cover basic expenses...work study money is supposed to cover the rest, but I don't buy anything with it anyway.

Parents give me money? never, and they got loads of it! You spend better when its your own money anyway

I get about $100 a month, or whenever my mother gets her next paycheck. It is basically for me to pay for food or other fun things around the city (like movies and such), since my only source of income is work-study, which I use to pay for tuition. I don't really see a problem with parents still giving their kids money once they enter college, I know my parents would never throw me out on the street without a little help. If they can afford to give it away, why not. But then again, that's how my parents have always acted, putting their kids first, and then them. I am very fortunate.
