I think I have a very strong academic profile for BC along with some leadership positions in clubs I’ve spent a lot of time in. My recs should be good too but obviously I can’t judge those. I’m just wondering how much harder CSOM is to get into compared to the other schools? During a tour they mentioned the acceptance rate between schools is not that different but of course that does not speak about the possible difference in the quality of the applicant pool at the different colleges. Is CSOM a lot tougher to get into than the others? i was thinking BC was a match/high match for me, but I’m not sure anymore.
I have a roommate in the admissions office and he said that, year over year, CSOM ranges between being about 4-8% more competitive, regarding acceptance rate alone. So, factoring in the weight that CSOM has in the overall class (comprising about a quarter of the incoming class) and considering that the other 3 schools are usually in the same ballpark in acceptances, it would make sense to assume that, relative to about a 30-32% acceptance rate for any given year, CSOM hovers in the 26-27% range.
However, it might be worth noting that, like you said, it is already fairly well known that it is the most competitive among the four programs, so that might support the idea that even the broader applicant pool (whether accepted or rejected) is at a marginally more competitive level overall, but that’s total speculation (and bias) on my part.
Hope this helped.
@appplicant Thanks, that doesn’t seem too bad. I have pretty good stats for BC(4.0 UW, 34 ACT), good ECs, and my BC supplement was one of my favorites. I was thinking it was a match, but wasn’t sure for CSOM specifically. I loved the school when I visited so crossing my fingers for an EA acceptance!
Are you in CSOM? If so, do you mind sharing your experience so far?
@Class0f2O17 Apologies for not seeing this until now. I don’t frequent these forums too often any more.
Feel free to browse my past “chance me’s” as a basic comparable to my stats for your chances. I got into CSOM as an RD applicant, because I applied ED elsewhere and therefore couldn’t apply to BC REA.
My experience in the school has been awesome so far. I’ve loved BC and my general time here has been nearly everything I could’ve hoped for. The CSOM classes have been mostly great. The university core is also interesting for the broader school.
I’m a current junior and have had 2 internships, in which the first (after freshman year) was from a connection to someone in the industry, and the second was from a selection of 350 applicants for 3 spots (which I believe BC and the CSOM name helped me out). I’m also already set up for a fairly solid I-banking job for this coming summer (for which this company recruits most heavily from BC, among any other school). I speak of this because, other than the first internship, I think my capacity to get summer employment can be attributed heavily to BC and CSOM specifically. Oftentimes, business school are judged most substantially on the capacity to get its students jobs both during the summer and after graduation. CSOM continues to rise and currently places among the top tier in that regard.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.
