How much weight does visiting and having contact really hold?

I'm applying to a few schools that I've never visited, and I'm worried that this alone will knock me out of their consideration. Silly, I know. But I'm just busy, and it's difficult for me to get off of work. So I visited four schools, even though I plan on applying to ten. Honestly how much does visiting factor into admissions? Also, I'm obviously not going to get to applying to some of these places until December, and everyone I meet seems to think I should have been done with applications weeks ago. But I'm taking five AP's right now, and they're got me very busy! Plus my school still pretends that everyone applies using paper, and so it took me a little bit to figure out how to do recs, transcripts, and whatnot when I was applying online.

How much are those two things going to affect me?

It depends on the schools. Check the US News on-line site -- which you get full access to until next Aug. for about $15-- which will tell you whether the schools care about demonstrated interest. Many schools don't care whether or not you show interest.

Northstarmom is, as always, correct. Many schools don't care, but some care very much. For instance, when I told my GC I was considering Emory she told me that if I didn't visit, I would probably be rejected, based on her experience.

Awwww, I wanted to visit Emory so bad, too. It was on my "possibilities" list a while ago, as it sounds like a wonderful school. I just didn't get to find out much about it. I guess I probably won't bother applying to it then. Thanks for the responses.
