how much will the putnam math comp help?

<p>If one places honorable mention (or higher) in the Putnam math competition, does that increase the chance for getting into a prestigious math program? </p>

<p>What other types of things (research ect) would help one to get into a prestigious math program? </p>

<p>putnam helps. so does COMAP MCM, if your school is involved with that.</p>

<p>of course research with a publication and good grades in undergrad and graduate math courses help, too.</p>
