How much will this hurt my chances?

Throughout high school, I have maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA. This year, I am taking 7 AP classes, but I am going to end up with a B in AP chemistry for the first semester. How much will this hurt my chances since I have to send midyear grades?

This means you have As in all 6 other AP classes? That’s pretty amazing. I know a lot of College Confidential people make big deals over anything lower than an A, but a B is not the end of the world, especially in an AP class.

Would you be willing to reveal the actual number grade? Is it a low B, mid B, high B?

Either way, it shouldn’t be bad. I’m not sure what types of schools you’re applying to, but even for the most selective, getting one B, especially in an AP class, won’t automatically get you a rejection.

It’s an 88%

For 99.9 % of the colleges in this country, it won’t make a bit of difference. For HPY et al, it could.

What is hpy et al?

Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc. He/she is talking about the most elite schools when he/she says that.

Wow. I was expecting like an 81 or something.

Yeah, you should be absolutely fine.
