How much will weak EC's hurt my chances?

I am looking to apply to Groton, Concord Academy, St. Marks, and Lawerence Academy

I have good grades in difficult classes at a top 20 public school in MA,
AP Bio-93
HON Geo-94(took HON algebra 2 last year with a 92)
HON English- 88
HON French-92
ACC US History-99

SSAT
Verbal-87
Quantitative-92
Reading-94
Overall- 95

PSAT
English(in general)- 93
Math-99
Overall-98

I feel like I will get good recommendations from all of my teachers, and have done well with the interviews, but I have quite weak EC’s, basically being limited to the trumpet, and that’s about it.

What grade are you applying for?

How good are you at the trumpet? Any awards?

My band only won a bronze medal at MICCA in the 7th, 8th, and 9th, but not any individual awards.

10th, as a repeat

You certainly have the grades to get accepted. If you’ve been doing McDucket for a while, emphasize your commitment. Or emphasize how playing in a band has improved your character. It may impact your chances if you don’t appear well-balanced, but make yourself stand out and prove that you should attend those schools. Focus on your essays now, and make sure other parts of your application are stellar. Good luck
