im from the south and i have a lot of summer clothes. could i survive with a few light jackets and sweaters until thanksgiving?

It depends on where you’re going … I would keep your summer clothes and bring a light jacket/clothes and when it does get colder just buy what you need while your out there so you can travel light … that’s what I would do .

Not sure what you mean by light jackets. You might want a fleece, like a Northface, before Thanksgiving as well as gloves. Snow is not impossible that early, though it probably wouldn’t accumulate too much. If you can stop in Freeport on the way to Colby or get there during the first few months you’ll find what you need at LLBean, Northface etc.

I’m from Maine, and I usually find that I am wearing my winter jacket (a down jacket or fleece lined North Face) by mid-November. Having said that, being from the south you might be wanting a warmer coat earlier then that. The weather totally varies though… I wouldn’t worry about it till you get here, because if you find yourself wanting a winter coat, you could definitely take a trip to Freeport one weekend to get one (or even try to find one in Augusta).

Gloves, hats, scarves-- might be a good idea to bring now.

farmer’s almanac was released today-- and it’s predicting a “numbing cold this winter.”
though it says milder weather along the east coast (compared to the rest of the country), it might be worth investing in the winter apparel sooner rather than later. welcome to maine.
