D, my youngest, was starting senior year. CC helped in the debate about ED. Oldest, our S, was just starting his first year of law school. We went through 2 rounds of apps with him without the benefit of the extras I've picked up here. Those of you with young'un's should be able to hang out a shingle soon, although I think Carolyn's got you beat there.

I didn't find this until S#2 was a senior in high school, and S #1 was already in college. However, I have three more kids (high school sophomore, 6th grader and 1st grader), so guess I'll be hanging out for a while. . .

I think I am on the young side of the age-of-oldest-child distribution among the parents here. My oldest was about just-turned-twelve, in the summer after his sixth-grade year, when I began lurking and then posting here in 2004, on the "old" CC discussion boards. My first thread on the "new" CC was the appropriately titled "Planning WAY ahead?"

I think I learned about quote tags after Curmudgeon brought up the issue one time.

Oh, and I learned about CC from a mention of this fine site, in its "old" version, by Texas137 on a Brand X forum that she and I both frequent.

I'm insulted, jym! My child is ~-15 years old!!! One thing that I just realized that is kind of creepy is that there could be a teenage parent here looking at the site (for herself) who would win because she had a one year old!!!!!!

Clayleas, you and I are tied - I didn't find it til about a month ago. I wish I had found it a year earlier. It would have helped me to aid her in finding matches, etc., and what to expect from certain schools in terms of rejections/acceptances.

I have three kids, College soph, HS junior and sixth grader. I found this site when my oldest was a HS junior but was more active on the PR board. When I first saw this site it didn't look very active. I jumped over here when PR board started getting too ivy-bound and un-kind.

I would love to see more activity from parents with truely avg. grades and stat's.

I've been here a few months and my oldest is in 8th grade. I find the subject and all of your experiences fascinating. I found the board while googling for info on middle schoolers taking the SATs for the Johns Hopkins CTY program. I've learned so much here, and even though college admissions is still a long way off for my family, I feel it's important to gather as much information as possible beforehand.

It's how I found out that the Y EA decisions were available on their web page as of 5:00 p.m. EST on 12-14-04, or 24 hours before the date and time we thought the decisions would be available.

I was called by a friend that morning who wanted to know if D got in. I told him the results were not available. He told me to check CC to see if other applicants had checked for their results the night before. I had never heard of CC, but I went on immediately to see what others were saying. Obviously, various posters knew that the results were available.

My son was in mid-eighth grade when I first started reading these informative threads (he's finishing up 8th now..)!

I got so much great information--national math tests to look into, extra-curicular ideas...just the possibilities of what kids are capable of (by looking at the stellar 'resumes' of students here!). It's been fascinating! (& anxiety producing! lol)

Spring of 2003, so D was 18 and finishing her Senior Year. S was a freshman, and he would have been 15. I heard about CC from my DH who was preoccupied (okay, a teensy bit obsessed) with our D's college search. ;)

I found this site when I was looking for information about a summer program my (then) junior son was set to attend. Little did I know . . . He is now a senior and the next-in-line's a sophomore.

I found this site last year when I was looking at my alma mater's review on the Princeton Review......my kids were only 7 and 11 and I'm hooked......many years of addiction to enjoy!
