How respected is Dickinson in the real world?

I know that it is a great place, but I am wondering about post-college opportunities coming from Dickinson...I have some doubts due to the fairly high acceptance rate. Does anyone have thoughts on this?

Hi there. I am actually a current senior at Dickinson. As my friends and I are preparing applications for jobs, fellowships, and other programs, we have had many conversations about how we, as Dickinson graduates, will be considered next to graduates from other institutions. The conclusion that we have come to is that during our four years here, we have been given so many unique opportunities that allow us to stand out as individuals outside of Dickinson. For example, since arriving in August 2008, I have participated in three study abroad programs (one summer, one semester, and one globally integrated). I have also had the ability to develop strong, professional relationships with professors and administrators at Dickinson. Developing these relationships proved particularly helpful when integrating myself into the office environments of the four internships I have had as a Dickinson student. I believe I speak on behalf of my fellow classmates in saying that the skills that I have developed throughout my time as a Dickinson student coupled with seeing the successes of graduates older than me gives me confidence that Dickinson is well respected in the “real world.” If you’re interested in learning about what members of the class of 2011 did after graduation, I suggest checking out [Dickinson College - Life Beyond the Limestone Walls 2011](http://www.dickinson.edu/news-and-events/beyond-the-limestone/).
