^haha i already crossed it off of my list :P

Im already raising my grades up, making up classes and studying hard

Ive decided to apply regular decision so i can raise my grades & gpa so i can really show the admissions comittee that i truely have turned over a new leave

^ along with a rigorous senior schedule (ive always taken honors/AP anyway…)

I will also work hard in the summer on my Essay…perfecting it :)

I really hope i can get in! I dont just wanna go there to party and have fun. I’m looking to get a good education (:

Okay so i had my heart set on Howard now you got me rethinking it lol

Doesn’t hurt to apply. My kid is finishing up her 2nd year (time flies). She’s registered for her classes in the fall. GPA is around 3.8x. Scholarship is good standing. Heading off to do some grant funded studying this summer…and still attends a party or two. Says she’s met some amazing people and has made amazing friends. Has some pretty impressive faculty mentors.

It is what you make it. What I noticed is her friends are also in the honors program and seem to know how to balance academics with fun.

The football team is pretty bad, though lol

I kinda like the music blaring from the speakers at Florida St and Georgia St, too ;)

Huh?

ohhh i think I’m going to fly into D.C. next month to visit a couple of schools…and of course howard with my cousin who’s a Howard Alumni :)

well i have a cum gpa of 3.72 and i made a 23 on my Act the second time around. do i need to take the Sat for Howard?

Yeah, Howard will probably be a stretch and you won’t get any type of money. I go to Howard and the lowest GPAs I’ve heard from high school are around 3.0. If you are interested in going to school in DC, I would try UDC. The University of the District of Columbia also has a community college element so you could transfer directly in without many issues. And it is fairly inexpensive. As mentioned, Howard gets more competitive each year, and the rest of the schools in DC are competitive as well. UDC is probably your only option if you want to do school in the District.

And Mark, you may want to retake that ACT. With an increase of 3 points, you can get a scholarship that pays tuition. :)

Update: I’ve decided that ^ you’re right, it’s gonna be a stretch for me to get in AND pay for it…but im still going to visit…

I probably plan on transferring my sophormore year(from a CC or low tier in state school) (and hopefully then i might be able to get some good aid).

The good thing about transferring into Howard is that if you have a high CC GPA then you can be considered for a full tuition transfer student scholarship. Aim for at least a 3.5, but probably closer to a 3.75.

^ yupp! I’m aiming to get/maintain a 3.8+ I will work hard & develop better study habits [inshallah].
