How should I go about looking for colleges?

Most of the schools on your list will expect your parents to full pay.

I’m from your area…live in a smaller city next to HSV.

What was your PSAT?

My kids went to a private high school in HSV, and both went to Bama on very large merit scholarships. We paid very little for ether undergrad education.

Older son (Bama grad '11) accepted to all PhD programs he applied to, and chose an elite school for his PhD.

Younger son graduating from Bama in May, will likely be going to UAB med school this fall. He was accepted to 3 US MD schools, but will likely choose UAB because it’s very good, price is ok, and it’s only an hour away from home. All of my son’s premed pals have multiple MD acceptances. Bama does a very good job preparing students for the MCAT.

Since med school is expensive (even if you go to UAB med, it’s going to cost $200k+), you shouldn’t spend a whole bunch on undergrad when you have cheaper options.

Have you toured Bama? If not, you should. Go to the Bama forum here on CC for more info… [University of Alabama - College Confidential](University of Alabama - College Confidential Forums)
