I took the June SAT and got a score of 1620 - in which I was pretty disappointed about. Math: 570, CR: 470, Writing: 580. I "studied" by reading on how to take the SAT but never really doing practice tests. I also had the mentality of I'll do the June SAT just ot see how I'll do. So now that the scores are out, I definately have no more excuses to slack off. My goal for the October SAT is 1900.

For the October SAT: I have the RocketReview, Barron's and CB book. I also have a few books from the library. Since it is the CR portion that I need to improve on most, I am working really hard on my vocab as well - words from the 3500 word list in Barron's.I am studying from Barron's how to study for the SAT 2007 for an hour a day in July. As well, I will be working on practice tests published by CB. In August, I will focus more on practice tests and studying from the blue book.
How should I go about studying in September?

And how do you deal with studying from two books with conflicting strategies? Im talking about the Barron's book and the RocketReview one.

Is it effective to purposely omit some questions all together as suggested by Barron's?

-Study from the CB book.
-Take LOTS of practice tests. Don't just read about them
-Create your own strategies while taking practice tests

Test-taking is a technique as much as anything else. With enough practice, you'll develop your own "method." Surprisingly enough, "you'll figure it out" is terrific advice.

Regarding omission, I find it more beneficial to just guess. Probability-wise, you will end up with a positive score...

at this point, i think that it is too late to memorize words for CR. I believe you are better off focusing on the other portions of CR. another thing, it may be ALOT easier to improve that writing score as long as you study some grammar and practice enough to familiarize yourself with the types of questions the writing section has. in a nutshell, it'd take some effort to improve CR, but quite a bit easier to see an exponential inprovement wit that writing score with alot less work

familiarize yourself with the CB book. i am no kidding. those practice tests, though on the easy side are the most accurate ones out there. you should just go pure practice test in september, but be careful not to get burned out....i did and was promptly whipped by the oct test. you might also want to consider the SAT online course from cb
