How should I manage my money in college?

<p>And Yau’s example is a good one for where credit cards are helpful. Oftentimes something like a car rental agency or book rentals require a credit card because they put a temporary hold on the card for some amount of money (let’s say $500). Now with a credit card, that money isn’t actually gone. It does affect your spending limit, but it doesn’t take away any buying power from you. If you used a debit card, that $500 actually would eat into your usable money. </p>

<p>@Yau are you former military or related to one? Or are you civilian? I’m checking out USAA and I’ve heard great things about them from military/family customers but I recall a few civilians saying they don’t get as good customer service.</p>

Yup, I’m family of military. USAA has always been great to us. No idea about civilian customer treatment.</p>
