How strong is my resume?

I recently got rejected for the Questrbridge College Prep Scholar award and this made me question how strong my experience so far is.

My family income is about 40,000 dollars per year.

*I am dropping some extracurriculars because of my increased workload in my senior year. Out of the 8 classes my school allows me to take each year, all 8 will be dual enrollment classes at a local college.

I did not know I could freely join clubs/extracurriculars in 9th grade and only realized in the beginning of 10th. I moved from Turkey where my school, and the vast majority of schools really, have almost no extracurriculars. I do not know if this will help my chances or be considered at all, but I am planning on doing it nonetheless.

You do you. Don’t worry about your Ecs. Do things you enjoy and you have a theme so that’s OK. I would work on trying to bring up your Act /Sat scores. How are these scores for your school?

QB scholars is competitive, there are many strong applicants.

Are you an international student, or are you a US citizen/permanent resident? If international, my sense is that the odds to be accepted to QB scholars (and likewise attain QB finalist) are relatively more difficult, but I don’t know that for sure as they don’t publish acceptance rates to that level of detail.

I am not sure on your rigor either, are there AP or IP courses above the honors classes you’ve taken? Your rank is outside the top 10%, so that might have something to do with the denial as well, if that was reported.

I agree you should continue doing ECs that are meaningful to you. I also encourage you to take another test, sounds like you prefer SAT as that’s the one you mention retaking?
