In your case I don’t know how it will work. He will very likely give you top priority over people who did not email him. However, you have to consider the WAIT LIST. For example, for my English class they allow 10 people on the waitlist. Now if I go sit in that English class, and an extra 20 people show up, I’m sure the professor would consider me for the 11th spot because I know him from a previous class and emailed him, but it will depend on if he is able to even add 11 people to the class (for whatever reason)…and whether all those 10 waitlisted people show up or not. Like someone said above, one prof. let all 20 or so people add, another did not even let 1 get in. So it entirely depends on the prof. To be sure, I would suggest reconfirming with him a little before class starts.

yeah i confirmed a second time with him through emailing, he said that he cannot give add codes until school starts…so i would have to come to his class and he would give me the add code before the end of the first week. so im guessing he really will add me cuz he sounds pretty confident about this situation…do u guys think im good?

i dont really understand the meaning of wait list…is it for the people who crash? im pretty sure i would be no.1 because i emailed him at 12:00 am of registration day…lol

With my history class out the way, all I have to do now is crash the political science class.

snooks did you ever email yhr poly sci class prof.? and can u tell me your opnion on my situation thanks

movingunit, i e-mailed the professor but he hasn’t responded. i don’t think i’m gonna take the class afterall cause i don’t need it. gonna take black politics instead during the summer.

like everyone else has said, go there the 1st day of class and see what happens.

I’m going to be crashing a class next semester too… Luckily I have the professor this semester and explained to him, and asked if he thought I would be able to get in and he said “We’ll get you in” So I am feeling pretty good, but still there is always that doubt that there will just be way too many people… Guess we will find out…

hmm good luck to you. on that and wouldnt u be no.1 in line regardless of how many people there are? im pretty sure u asked him before any1 else has so im pretty sure youll get top priority over any other person trying to crash. dont u think so?

hi guys im still confused by the “waiting list” , if i emailed him i should be on that list right?

emailing a teacher doesn’t automatically put you on a waiting list. if he gives you an add code, then it will.

isnt receiving an add code bascially saying i got into the class? i thought addcodes r supposed to add u into the class officially, so i dont think that would be a waiting list.

Generally the wait list is an automatic thing the college does after the class is booked, but people can still register for it online. On the first day, generally, (at least at my school) everyone on the wait list is accepted and then the Professor deals with the people who crashed, i.e. just showed up that day and were not on the wait list.

At that point, I’d imagine he/she would show preference to people that had e-mailed previously and give them add codes. However, he/she might also run a lottery and pull names out of a hat and distribute add codes that way. I’ve also seen it where he/she will just tell people to keep coming to the next few classes to wait and see if people drop, but that isn’t a guarantee of an add if nobody does.

oo i c, well i got to Santa monica college and bascially the people who email the professor or the people that show up earliest gets the add codes which bascially gets u into the class. so i guess there isnt a waiting list in my college

If someone wanted a class more than you they would email the prof. and have a contact established as early as possible to structure a hierarchy based on merit. If you are majoring in the field of study it’s easier. I would think they base spots on overall need.

alright so im gonna go crash that math class tomorrow…im new at this but, is it better to wait until the class is over to go up to the professor and let him or her know that i emailed them ahead of time? or, is it better to say it in the beginning of class? my school does not have a waiting list, the professor can add anyone that crashes with the method of a lottery or a 1st come 1st serve basis…but since he said that he would let me in, im guessing im in…so i would really appreciate it if you guys could give me the answer on that and some over useful tips…thanks alot once again

Beginning of the class.

o okay thanks, i printed out the email i had with him just incase he forgets who i am…good idea right?
