I’m currently applying to a job that has a large preference toward applicants that have studied abroad.
I was wondering if someone could advice me on how to add a summer study abroad program to my resume? I’m a bit confused on this because my program and courses were organized by an American university but hosted in a university abroad. And the transcripts show the name of the American university.
Any help would be beyond appreciated!!
In your education section, you would list
“2017 Summer study, XYZ University”.
or:
" Undergraduate studies, XYZ University, summer 2017"
I would list the actual place you studied.
If you were applying to graduate school, you might want to be more specific about including the name of the American U but this is too much detail for the resume.
I didn’t study abroad, but took foreign language summer courses at another university in the US. I included it as part of the bullets on my undergrad degree.
Here’s how it’s listed on my resume:
My main university
-Degree/grad date
-GPA
-Summer 2015: ITALXXX and ITALXXX at Other University, Location, Term GPA
-Relevant Courses
In your case, your bullet point could be:
-Summer 20XX: Courses abroad at University Abroad, Location, through American University
