You can try, but unless you’re one of the minority of accepted students who hold multiple acceptances, it’s unlikely you’ll be successful.
Some medical school will take extenuating circumstances into consideration–if you have children who will need day care, for example. But usually the school will simply increase your federal loan eligibility, not give you grant money.
@WayOutWestMom is it also true that some medical schools don’t even give their financial aid awards until much later in the admission process…with some not doing so until you deposit with them?
Have a friend who was offered $, a few weeks AFTER she already started med school. There was $0 up front.
AMCAS specifically does NOT require medical schools to provide any FA awards before the CTE (Commit to Enroll) date.
