How to avoid required immunization shots

Yes, you’re right, it’s much better to use harmless treatments like homeopathy. To hell with efficacy.

Smallpox is estimated to have killed between 300 and 500 million people in the 20th century alone. The mortality rate of infection was approximately 30%. Lets contrast that with the smallpox vaccine; the CDC estimates that 1-2 people per million vaccinated died as a result of the shot.

I don’t know what you’re referring to when you say that the vaccine is “harmful.” Complications are typically very mild; serious side effects are incredibly rare. As for the assertion that the MMR vaccine causes autism…well…lets see. On one side you have the NIH, WHO, FDA, CDC, AMA and the NAS. On the other you have a porn model turned B-list actress who never graduated college. How is this still an issue?

I hate Jenny McCarthy.

^I love Jim Carrey… but he’s wrong on this issue. And I have to echo Shazami… you’re afraid of Fluoride… why now? Yes, I realize in large doses it’s poisonous but it’s actually good for you, and your teeth.

there are a myriad of reports on fluoride, but here’s one.

[Science Watch #30: Kidney & Liver Damage found in Fluoride-Exposed Children](http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/news/30.html)

The only reason you haven’t ever contracted anything is that everyone else is immunized.

[Whooping Cough Epidemic in California: Lax Vaccination May Be to Blame - ABC News](<a href=“Whooping Cough Now Epidemic in California - ABC News”>Whooping Cough Now Epidemic in California - ABC News)
^a simple vaccination could have prevented the death of this baby. Because you don’t want to get a vaccination, you put others at risk. Look at the faces of the children suffering with whooping cough and their struggle to breath.

I hope this link is legal on CC. It’s not an advertisement. It’s a news story about pertussis.

paranoia at its finest… You do know that they add fluroide to the water right? <.<

^Shhh… we mustn’t speak of that which the men who operate in shadows have deemed we’re not supposed to know about them. Do you want to end up in the memory hole icedragon?

Some folks have the mindset that the more government, scientists, and health professionals tell you to do something, the bigger the conspiracy is.

Sigh…may I point this out: The Wakefield study that tied MMR to autism due to mercury and started off the whole anti-vaccination issue has now been fully debunked.

Of the 13 authors in the paper, 10 of them have retracted their contributions and statements. All claims within the paper have been unable to be repeated in other independent investigations. Furthermore, investigations have revealed that Wakefield had significant conflict of interest with the research and may have fixed the results of the paper.

By not getting vaccines, you are endangering others. The only reason that those without vaccines haven’t gotten anything bad YET is because the vast majority of the population do their civic duty and get them. If that crackpot minority ever grows, then issues will arise.

^And yet people are still raving about it. There are even people who are putting their kids through chelation therapy because they are CONVINCED their children have mercury poisoning from vaccines. And that is just the tip of the iceberg! Putting elementary school kids through 20, 30, even 40 hour a week therapy, crazy elimination diets, and god only knows what else-- because Oh My God Jenny McCarthy cured her son’s autism! People are taking advantage of parents’ fear and making a fortune off it. And her son most likely had Landau-Kleffner syndrome, NOT AUTISM, in the first place.

Would you rather have a sore arm for an hour or two (a side effect which is actually pretty unlikely as it stands) or bacterial meningitis? Would you rather feel nauseous for an afternoon or spread a potentially fatal disease to someone else?

Just get the vaccines. You’ll be fine, the odds that anything will happen to you are pretty much nonexistent, and it’s not worth the trouble you’ll go through otherwise - lying to school officials, possible quarantine, catching a fatal disease… Requirements for vaccines are there for good reason.

Sorry guys, never have been a conspiracy theorist nor will I ever be, but, I must ask: Do you use antiperspirants? Hairspray? Perfume? Do you wash your dishes with antibacterial soap? If your answer to any of these questions was yes, then you are slowly poisoning yourself. Sure these products only have trace amounts toxins, but think about the aggregate affect—daily use, monthly use……

If I told you I was going to put a miniscule amount of arsenic in your water every day but it wouldn’t be enough to kill you, would you drink it every day? Probably not. I feel the same way about many of the products that are currently in the market.
Many people seem to go through life and never question anything. I am not one of those people; I am not a sheep. Does anybody remember those old ads for DDT? “DDT, it’s good for you!” or “X-ray therapy.” Mankind is constantly evolving.

If you want to bash me for being cautious about what I put in my body—but if you had read my last post on the first page, you would have seen that I was leaning toward getting the vaccine—then so be it. But I cannot refute the fact that my health has improved tenfold since I stopped using many of these products.

Never be afraid to challenge anything. Don’t put the fate of your health in the hands of other people—corporate boards, investors, committees. Take charge and get control of your life, however little it may be.

everything gives you cancer, so i’d rather use perfume and smell good while i’m still alive! why be so cautious? what are you so afraid of? no one is immortal. plus i’m pretty sure the elderly used perfume their whole lives and they’re still kickin’!

@babytitain

There is a difference between distrusting the chemicals perfume companies have put into their products and doubting claims made by thousands of respected scientists in thousands of peer-reviewed journal over decades if not a hundred year with proven results.

Frankly, saying that the generally accepted vaccines such as MMR will harm you is like claiming that much of the basis for our entire biomedical field, pharmaceutical industry, and medical profession is bullocks.

babytitain: Do you even know what’s in that stuff, man? It’s poison. It’ll, like, cause so many negative reactions man. I read about it in VICE magazine. smokes cigarette

The link between deodorant and disease is tenuous; aluminum is bad for you, but the exposure is negligible. You get much more cooking with aluminum foil. For those that are overly concerned, there are certain deodorants produced that don’t contain aluminum.

Triclosan hasn’t been shown to have a negative health effect in humans, but mixed with certain other products, it can produce a harmful solution. Don’t mix it. Most (reasonable) people don’t want to ban bleach because a few ■■■■■■■ mixed it with ammonia when they were cleaning their sink.

I haven’t really read about hairspray and perfume toxicity. Anecdotally, I hate them because they drive my allergies crazy. They might be toxic, they might not, I just really don’t know enough to offer a quality response.

DDT is another great example of the benefits outweighing the risks. It’s not healthy to consume, but then again, most pesticides aren’t. That’s kinda the point; you use them to kill the pests. In 1963, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) was using DDT. There were 17 cases of Malaria for the entire country. By 1969, after a national DDT ban, there were 2.5 million cases. With a strong regulatory body ensuring that it’s being used properly (e.g. not contaminating the water supply,) pesticides are fantastically beneficial.

Oxygen causes aging…aging eventually wears down your body. You are slowly poisoning yourself with every breath you take.

I’ve read a lot about perfume toxicity (there was a recent study showing that nearly all celebrity perfumes out on the market currently have ridiculous levels of toxins in them), but I don’t use them. Like long.897, they drive my allergies up the wall.

Either way, having an issue with perfumes is no where near the same as having an issue with a vaccine. The fda barely regulates perfumes. The fda heavily regulates vaccines.
I think it was nysmile who mentioned it, but just like the recent whooping cough epidemic, there is also a mumps outbreak. You have no place being a parent if your kid gets the mumps because you decided they shouldn’t get the mmr vaccine.

Stupid parents listening to Jenny McCarthy. Anyone who takes her seriously is a fool. There hasn’t been mercury in the mmr vaccine in nearly 10 years. And the only study linking vaccines to autism was completely debunked.
If fact, the only link between vaccines and autism is that kids being diagnosed with autism are generally around the age when the vaccines are recommended. That doesn’t qualify as proof in any sense of the word.

I find this table pretty neat, if you want to know what’s actually going into you:
http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/pubs/pinkbook/downloads/appendices/B/excipient-table-2.pdf</a>
(for those of you who don’t know, thimerosal is mercury)
The only new vaccine you probably need is the meningitis vaccine, and menectra does not contain mercury either.

just get the shot and suck it up/ when you’re alive in 30 years, thank me.
