How to become a part of Aerospace Engineering 5 year BS/MS?

I was looking for the answer on their site but didn't come across any definite answer. When do you apply for the 5 year bachelors and masters program?

if I remember correctly its like sometime during the beginning of junior year, at least thats what the person in admissions told me. Im also pretty sure that the 5 year bs/ms is nonthesis so its really only extra grad courses without the research component. Im majoring in ChemE so the importance of a research comp is prob a little diff for my major as opposed to AE(I would assume that the importance is fairly similar tho)Personally I think think that it wld be worth the extra year to get a ms with a thesis but thats obv up to you. hope this helps. go jackets!

If you’re going into industry and not into a PhD program, then a non-thesis MS and a thesis MS are treated the same. If you’re going into a PhD program or otherwise really want to get into R&D, a thesis MS would probably be a better option.

Each BS/MS program at Tech is different. Some are non-thesis only, some (like ChBE) allows for a thesis or for a non-thesis program. The AE program requires research during the undergraduate program but does not require a master’s thesis.

For the AE program, you apply in your sophomore year as long as you have a 3.5+ GPA. If accepted, you must keep your GPA at 3.5+ to stay in the program. After the 4th year, you’re awarded a BS and enter the MS program.
