It’s completely okay to fall under a stereotype. If you really enjoy those things, it will show. You can still be unique within your stereotype. Otherwise, at least at my school, we would all be clones. It’s the differences within a stereotype that matter, not the stereotype itself.

Be YOURSELF!

Be yourself! Explore new opportunities as you never know if you will enjoy the activity until you try. Make sure that those “Asian” interest of yours actually interest you. Like ecouter11’s post and previous ones, I agree that you must be proud of your culture!!! As an Asian myself, I compare my extracurricular to other Asians just like you. However, mine are quite different than some Asians in my school and I am proud to be different from some of my Asian friends. Don’t let culture get in the way of your thinking. Just because one Asian and it seems like the right choice, don’t follow that choice unless you are truly passionate about it. I could have easily gone along with the other Asians regarding sports and clubs out of peer pressure or whatever, but I made sure to stay true to myself and surround myself with people who truly believe and care about me. In my opinion, I like surrounding myself with different ethnicities and people that I wouldn’t usually see in my AP classes. It is fun to meet new people that are not Asian and have fun while you are at it! Really hope my advice helped.
Good luck in your endeavors and studies! :D

Sorry for all the grammatical choices every body! It was a quick response :/

It doesn’t matter if you’re stereotypically Asian. Just keep doing what you love. Don’t let stereotypes stop you from doing that. (One Korean I know who just went to Stanford highlighted violin and piano as his two main ECs :P)

What will set you apart is your essays, so do what you love, enjoy doing what you do, focus on making unique essays, and you’ll be all set.

Nice username, haha.

Don’t intentionally make people think asian are different than other peoples. For example, having username like amazingasian. Other than that, whatever you like to do is fine.

change your last name to “Lopez” or “Gomez” and identify yourself as Hispanic, which will increase your chances of getting into Harvard

And as an Asian you lack logical reasoning. If you don’t want to be stereotypical stop doing stereotypical stuff! Drop Ty Kwan Do and join the football team or basketball team? Drop your Asian languages and pick up Spanish? Don’t play the violin, play the drums? And don’t major in pre med, major in finance. Look you claim you don’t want to be Asian, but you actions don’t express that, and actions speak louder than words. You really need to get your crap together if you want to change.
