Hi! I am currently a HS junior, and I just found out I was accepted for a senior year shadowing position with a local doctor in my community as a part of a program in my school. This position starts in August, the start of my senior year. This program lasts for the entire school year. How can I include this in my college application, which is due towards the mid-first semester of my senior year? Thanks in advance for any advice
Treat it like any other EC:
Physician Shadowing, Grade 12, 5 hours per week for 30 weeks (projected). Competitive program includes shadowing physician in office, discussing cases and creating a reflective presentation at the end.
@ forwardfurtune. My daughter is a junior in HS and what to do shadowing. How did you apply for a shadowing position? we live in SF bay area, CA. Thank you.
My school offers it as part of a program, they have partnerships with local doctors. I don’t know how it would work to find a position on your own.
We didn’t put ours as an EC. It was listed as Volunteer or Job experience. It was part of the pre vet program at his school. He had 300 hours with a vet and the class culminated in getting a Certification as a Veterinary Assistant. He stated how many hours he would have at the end of the program. It wasn’t questioned and was viewed well
