Hi all,

I recently got a couple of 2370+ on my practice tests (I have been in 2330 land for some time) and have a couple of questions:
1) Do people usually get about the same score on BB1&2 practice tests as on the actual SAT?
2) Should I continue taking practice tests during the week up until the June 5th test, or should I try to relax?

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I can’t speak much for your situation because my score has been wavering in a much lower range after the first couple of times I took the actual SAT. Before both testing sessions, I took a practice test the night before where, for whatever reason, I was thinking about my performance the following morning and was probably very apprehensive, resulting in me getting somewhere around 1700. The very next day I took the SAT, was able to relax a bit, and scored an 1860. I feel like I can still score much higher…but that’s besides the point. My strategy was terrible and in order to keep from doing what I did, you should make sure you get a healthy amount of sleep the night before instead of chipping away at last-minute practice at 1 AM. I probably hurt my score by doing this, so I would really suggest that since you have aldready been getting stellar scores, you practice up until wed/thurs. And friday, just take an hour or two to review some essay topics and whatever you feel like you may lose points on come saturday.

Hope this helped, good luck!

I’m worried about this as well.

I’m doing pretty well on my practice tests, 1400+ on CR and M, where in May I had a 1220 on those two. I know why I did so bad, I got like 4 hours of sleep the night before and I wasn’t really feeling good during the test, so I lacked the “edge” or killer instinct and I just kind of went through the motions for 4 hours.

Math, I was flustered from the onset and did much worse than I normally did. For CR I did slightly worse, but I had been studying and was hoping to do better. I hindsight, I really should have canceled it, but I’m glad most of my schools that I’m applying to, I can use Score Choice.

But anyways, the past to BB CR tests, I’ve gotten a 58 and 61 raw score respectively. All of my mistake were vocab, with sentence completion, which word most accurately describes how ____ is acting…, etc… which is good for me, because DH is coming in the mail, and I know that will help on the vocab questions.

Math, I’ve been getting 690s, low 700s, with stupid, stupid, very stupid errors. So if I concentrate, I know I can get a 700+ on that section, especially since I just finished Grubers.

I’d love to get a 1400 and some of my practice test indicate that I have a shot at 1450, and I would be ecstatic if I could get a score like that.

lol…I’m going balls to the wall…making sure this is not a fluke. I have like 6 BB CR tests left and 7 math tests…not sure how many more I’ll do, but I want to make sure I have math nailed down, cut down the stupid mistakes and increase speed.

Besides vocab in the passage, I have not missed a passage based question in the past two CR tests I took…maybe I’ll let up a little on that…but Direct Hits should be shipped tomorrow express and get to me by Wednesday.

…and I can’t forget about writing lol

Almost always, you will not score as well as you do on practice exams during the real SAT. Instead of taking an exam in the comfort of your own home, you’re at a different place early in the morning and probably nervous about how you’re going to do. Honestly, I would recommend you take the test with 5 fewer minutes per section, because on the day of the real SAT, each section will feel much shorter than it felt during a practice exam.
