Although I have no research experience at all, I've thought long and hard about all the wonderful possibilities that research may offer me. I love science and I can sit in a room for hours, working.

My only problem is that I have no idea how to become involved in research. At all. I applied for a camp and got rejected and I really don't wish to wait until my junior year for another chance.

I understand that I need to find myself a mentor before anything- how do I do this?

ANd if I do contact one, I haven't chosen a topic of research because I don't know what you would consider one. ( is there a list of them or something?)

Also, would these college professors even want me? I have no experience at all, I do not know how to operate lab equipment. All I have is a love for science-chemistry specially and a strong drive to do some serious work.

Please help me out.
