How to Find My Room Assignment

Another reason I’m getting a single is because I’m an only child…

For me, getting a roommate would be like a one-year crash course on the life-long learning experience of how to share.

^ wouldn’t that be a GOOD thing? unless you have $$$ to spare, you’re probably going to end up sharing a room sometime in the next four years. off-campus, shared rooms average $400/month, while singles are like $600/month and up.

Yeah, I’m probably going to end up sharing a double and then an apartment later on…but my parents are willing to pay for a single for me THIS year, so…why not?

I don’t see why this decision should be questioned, lol. It’s just my preference.

^i agree. hahaha. if you want a single, go for it.

I switched out my triple dorm for a double!! Yes, you actually can do that!

so here’s what you do:

 1. Find someone in your college that wants to trade rooms. The challenging part is probably making sure that they are in your college… I was lucky enough to find my tradee (is that a word? haha) here on CC (: you might want to try this forum or facebook
 2. Call your college’s ResLife: https://hds.ucsd.edu/sso/studentassignmentview/contact.aspx</a>
 3. They should tell you what to do from there, they’ll probably want you to email some information to them.
 4. They were supposed to have replied and have it arranged in a day, but this didn’t happen… I imagine they’re FLOODED with emails about housing arrangements. So I waited out one day and called the day after … they did the switch while I was on the phone.

good luck you guys!! (: I hope this helped someone!

^^^thanks for the info, I hope I get lucky like you and trade my triple for a double haha =]

YIPEE! I got switched! Thanks again pinkberry. =)

hostility? somehow you think i’m being hostile because of the way i’m typing on the internet? rofl.

and again, what reason would you have not wanting to be in the same room as someone else all the time, besides well… jacking off and having sex, unless your an antisocial ■■■■■■■, then i understand. and by the way, it really isn’t all the time. it’s not like your roommates are going to be sitting in your room all day, and neither would you, unless… well once again, your an antisocial ■■■■■■■.

^You have a point there. You won’t be in your room with your roommate all day. But still, there’s reasons why you wouldn’t want to deal with a roommate. My roommates friends woke me up at 3am trying to wake him up. He would sip his his cup of noodles obnoxiously loud at 3am. He would sleep all day which meant I always had to be dead silent in my room. He would yell “SHUT THE **** UP YOU GUYS ARE SO ******* LOUD!” at 2pm because apparently that’s quiet hours for him. Needless to say, I dealt with it all and didn’t make a big deal out of anything.
