What SAT/ACT scores, AP Exam Scores, Course Load (number of honors/AP courses) , GPA, Extracurricular Activities/Involvement in school, and other attributes acquired in high school would make one competitive for admission to Stanford University? I plan to apply in a few years and would like to know how to have an advantage over the competition.

Why do you want to go to Stanford? You could check their website to learn about their admission requirements, but you might consider starting with what YOU want (career interests, extra curriculars, etc.) then finding schools that fit your needs instead of trying to mold yourself into something to please somebody else. Many kids do that, aren’t accepted, then feel like they wasted their high school years. Please don’t be one of them.

Get the highest SAT score and GPA you can. Play a sport on the national level. Volunteer every week.

Then have your parents donate a building.

A usual good first step (and I don’t know why so many kids don’t get this) is to read their website- to understand what they look for beyond x years of this or what scores to send. It’s there.

Move to Palo Alto and make val in GUN high with editor of school news and class pres to boot. ;

Go here:
http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/site/faq/index.html
Then download and read the “Stanford Preview”.
The last page shows a class of 2017 academic profile.
For applicants with a 4.0 GPA (or above), the admission rate is 7%.
For applicants with an SAT-CR score of 14%, the admit rate is 14%.
etc.
In other words, even with nearly perfect stats, admission is not assured.
Stanford seeks “intellectual vitality” as well as academic excellence.

I think this is translated as “Move to PA and make valedictorian at Gunn High School with…”

This might do the trick, although there’s no guarantee, because, typically, proximity of hs isn’t a condition of entry. However, there are a good no. from this hs that do attend Stanford, mainly though because it’s a great school. Something like 35% who attend a UC, with a lot that go to Ivies and other top colleges.
